LiveSafe has 2 classes of users: active app users, and contact-only users.
Contact-only users have organization profiles with at least one form of contact information (email address or phone number), but they have not yet downloaded the app. These users can be created by the organization, and can receive Broadcast Messages sent via text message (SMS) or email. Without the app, they are unable to submit tips or receive Broadcast Messages via in-app push notification. They can download the app at any time, making this a good first step in spreading awareness of LiveSafe across your organization.
Active App Users have downloaded the app, and associated an email address and/or a phone number with their account. Users must download the app. They have full app access (send tips, start calls from the dashboard, receive Broadcasts via in-app push notifications, access resources, etc.)
There are several ways to onboard new users into LiveSafe:
- Through them downloading the App
- As a Contact-Only User
- Automated User Management

User-initiated downloading
To onboard new users into the App, you need to share information about LiveSafe with the people you want to use it! We recommend sending an email or an intranet alert to your organization, including a LiveSafe Feature Flyer.
Sample text to include in your email:
LiveSafe is a free mobile app that connects you directly with [ORGANIZATION] Safety and Security. You can submit tips related to safety concerns, attach a photo, video, or audio file, and send anonymously if you choose. You can also seek emergency help directly from the app, and review organizational safety resources.
Download LiveSafe from the App Store or Google Play Store, create your profile, and select [ORGANIZATION LiveSafe NAME].
Contact-Only Users
Contact-Only Users receive Text Message- and Email-based Broadcast Messages, and are controlled by the Dashboard Administrator. The advantage is that the individual does not have to do anything; the organization can add them into the system. The disadvantage is that it does not prompt the user to download the app: only they can do that. Read the article on Contact-Only Users to learn more.
Automated User Management
If you maintain an Active Roster of employees or students, LiveSafe can create accounts for each individual and invite them to join the app. This helps automate spreading the word, ensures that contact information is available to support Broadcast Messaging, and also helps remove individuals from your app community if they depart the organization.
