COVID-19 has required us to make adjustments to our educational, home, and social lives. As the world continues learning more about the virus, colleges and universities are considering how the following semesters will look. Universities have unique challenges: taking care of essential employees and community members who are looking after facilities and caring for students who are still on campus. Whether your campus is planning to remain virtual or is seeking to reopen sooner, such communications with students, faculty, and staff are essential. The LiveSafe team is with you every step of the way!
Near: Preparing for Campus Reopening, while still supporting Essential Employees and other community members that remain on campus.
As you evaluate next steps, use this Toolkit to leverage your existing investment in LiveSafe. Note that implementing solutions now for essential employees, international students still on campus, and other community members will help prepare your campus for eventual reopening.
Support those still close to campus: international students who were unable to return home, faculty members, medical or research centers supporting COVID-19 relief, or ongoing outreach to the local area |
Create Groups to send Broadcast Messages to specific communities. Provide timely updates as information changes about available resources and new procedures. |
Sample Broadcasts provide clear communications to keep your community in the know. | Use these templates to keep your people informed as you determine next steps. Click here for a refresher on sending Broadcast Messages. |
Link out to organizational websites detailing planning, preparation, and health resources. |
Update Card-Based Home Screen with direct links to resources. Follow up with a Broadcast Message: “(School Name or Department) is updating our COVID-19 website with information about the plan for next steps and a gradual reopening of offices. For more information and further updates, please download the LiveSafe app, or visit (link). If you have any questions or concerns, you can use LiveSafe to contact our (Safety Office).” |
Use a Daily Health Survey to identify individuals who are highly at risk while limiting your collection of sensitive health information. |
A Daily Health Survey can help identify potentially ill individuals before they enter campus or leave their dorm rooms. We offer both the LiveSafe Questionnaire, or you can set up a survey through a 3rd-party platform and link out to it from a Card on the LiveSafe home screen. |
Conduct Health & Wellness Checks to keep your community safe and your team informed |
Broadcast: accompany any health & wellness check with a notification of benefits available to sick employees and contractors. Without a reassurance that their jobs and incomes are safe, individuals may misreport their health. (For all organizations): Broadcast check-in: “Please tap "I'm Ok" if you're healthy or "Need Help" if you're sick. We'll follow-up directly w/ those feeling sick today. Stay Safe.” (For small teams): Wellness Cards: add Card(s) to your home screen allowing individuals to report if they are feeling healthy or not feeling well. This is ONLY recommended for organizations that are small enough that they can track non-responses and respond to each tip. Doing so builds familiarity and trust with LiveSafe. If you are unable to do so, we recommend using Broadcast Check-In. |
Identifying issues as new procedures are rolled out. New plans and procedures frequently have unintentional gaps. |
Consistent broadcast messaging: remind your people of the importance of reporting safety issues, asking clarifying questions, dispelling rumors, etc. through LiveSafe. Inclusion in training: remind your community of LiveSafe, have them download the app during training, and test sending in tips to the dashboard (if you are able to monitor the dashboard during the training and respond in real time). New Tip Types: add health & hygiene tip types to remind users to practice the CDC's health guidelines and raise questions or concerns. |

Provide Health & Wellness Resources to keep your community safe and informed |
