LiveSafe is shifting from the 4-button Home Screen to a new, updated Card-Based Home Screen. This is a familiar view for most mobile app users, and offers more adaptability so that organizations keep serving their community's safety and security needs.

Advantage: Access to Greater Safety Resources
Each card can be customized, and these can either link to actions within the app (such as Tip Submission or Emergency Options) or to external websites.
Have an organizational safety website that's updated with resources? Link out to it via a Card.
Facing a challenge where there is a clear trusted voice? (For example, the CDC for COVID-19, or FEMA for Hurricane response.) Link out to their resource website via a Card, and ensure your users are always one click away from the knowledge they need.
Want to run a survey of your organization? Create that survey in whatever tool you already use for that, and link to it via a Card.
Every Card can be customized to meet the specific safety needs of an organization (while also increasing branding opportunities, increasing the link between LiveSafe and your organizational safety.
For example, here is the (expanded) view of how an organization could use 7 cards to better care for their community. Depending on device, the top 3-4 cards would be visible when first opening the app, so they can easily Report Suspicious Activity, Report Incidents, or seek Emergency Assistance. Yet by simply scrolling, the user can find additional important resources.
Note: this is not a feed. Users should not expect to see endless information. We recommend organizations do not exceed 8-10 cards, as this may make finding important information challenging.
Many modern mobile apps use cards. The examples include Yelp, Instagram, Wayfair, AirBnB, Groupon, and many more. Cards are efficient tools for providing flexible access to information, and allow the user to scroll if they do not find the resource they seek.
Quite simply: when users see an app using Cards, engagement becomes easy.
