Assuming you are listed on the report recipients list, when you upload a file, that will trigger the validation process. This process will run the file through the virus/malware scan and will also validate some of the content within the file. The validation will check to make sure all column headers are present and correct and will also check to see that the values in each row are formatted correctly (i.e. email addresses, phone numbers, etc. are in their correct respective format). Once the validation is complete, you'll receive an email similar to the email pictured below with the results of your validation.
Missing Header Fields: This will tell you which header fields are missing and/or improperly formatted
Total number of invalid records: This number corresponds to the number of records in your file that are NOT expected to ingest properly (if at all).
Total number of records: This number corresponds to the total number of records in your file.
Attached to each email is a .zip file that contains a detailed report of the validation. If any rows are marked in the "total number of invalid records" section, this report will detail which rows are invalid and why they have been deemed as invalid. If all records are valid, this file will still be present in the email, however, the validation report will note that all records have passed the validation.
Once the file has been processed, you'll receive another email similar to the image below.
This email will detail the results of the actual ingest process.
Total Record Count: This number corresponds with the total number of records in the file
Valid Record Count: This number denotes how many records were successfully ingested
Invalid Record Count: This number denotes how many records were NOT successfully ingested
Users Created Count: This number shows how many user accounts were created by the file
Users Updated Count: This number shows how many user accounts were updated by the file (i.e. the account was created prior to this file but the file updated some or all of the users information)
Users Removed Count: This number shows how many user accounts were removed from your organization by the user file.
Users Ignored Count: This number shows how many users were contained in the file but that did not have any information to update. In other words, they are valid users but no changes were made.
Groups Created Count: This number denotes how many groups were created by the user file via the "groupname" column.
Groups Updated Count: This number shows how many pre-existing groups have been updated by the file (i.e. users added to groups, removed from groups, group names changed, etc.)
Groups Removed Count: This number shows how many groups were deleted by the user file
Groups Failure Count: This number shows how many groups were contained in the file but failed to be created.
The number in the "Invalid Record Count" in this email will most likely match up with the "Total number of invalid records" count in the validation email. The validation email is your first line of defense to understand any invalid rows in your file.
